Does the click comes from starter? or from the relay?

I had the same problem, would hear a click but no turning whatsoever form the starter motor, after a bit of unrecalled troubleshooting I ended up on starter motor, removed it, opened it, and indeed the brushes were done for, no problem, ordered new ones for a few bucks, soldered them into place and it's starting fine ever since, even though I only used electronics solder and didn't bother welding/jbwelding the connection (still a little afraid that the solder will crack with vibrations and I'll have to open the starter again).

Since you're opening the started engine, grab a caliper and measure the commutator diameter, normally the brushes erode first, but the commutator also erodes and the diameter needs to be within specs, then don't forget to clean the brushes side and grease the gears side. Check the Haynes manual for these models it breaks down step by step of removal, disassembly and inspection of the starter motor.

If you don't want to go through the trouble of removing carbs/airbox and starter, maybe you can open the flywheel window, plug a socket with an impact wrench to the stator and spin it (to the right direction), but I'm not sure if that's a better alternative...
