I did not, have considered buying a replacement board from ebay to see if it fixes it, but would have to buy both as i don't know which is the problem. The screen is not broken and the back light is seemingly working ok.

Iv thought the same , Iv seen a post somewhere where a guy has changed every board and still no joy , some say it’s the T-Con board , my tv is only 14 months old ,

ours was about 18mths. first it started with a line across the bottom a couple of months ago, till it totally went. Not sure if i want to spend money on the boards when it might not even fix it.

@tiggerlator looks like a bad screen. Bad as in either the LCD controller boards or the actual matrix of the display. Try all different video sources (from coax to HDMI etc.) and see if that makes a difference. Check for any damaged looking components on the driver boards. Also, disconnect all ribbon cables from main board, t-con board etc and check for corrosion. tears etc. If none of that works, you may need a new screen and you probably already figured that those are hard to come by.

The screen does sometimes come on, so the screen itself is seemingly fine. then it freezes in a band across the middle horizontally, but works ok above and below it.

@tiggerlator that would be cause by bad source drivers. Those are either COF or on the LED driver board. See if you have very thin ribbon going into the side of the panel. this is a Toshiba, so no help from them That company is useless and hates DIY repairs. They do everything to prevent self repair. It'll be tricky finding anything out about the panel etc.

I messaged someone who sells boards etc , I sent them a picture of my tv and asked if a new board would sort the problem, they said no , it’s the panel that’s gone ,

So I’m going to throw mine away

@davee88708 don't throw it in the bin. Disassemble it, sell the boards on ebay or craigslist for a few bucks and dispose of the rest in a proper, environmentally responsible, way.

Good idea , I will do that

How do they know it is the panel?

When i first turn mine on, sometimes for a short time it displays the initial screens properly, These are no oled, if they have just failed then surely toshiba is to blame for selling these tv's with faulty screens.

Don’t throw it away. I might know what’s wrong with it. Mine did the same. It’s the TCON board. I noticed one part of the screen was slightly solarised. So I opened it up and examined the TCON board, it seems the right ribbon cable (ribbon cable labelled right) had a tiny masking tape on the right edge covering the last right 5 pins on the ribbon cable. When I removed the tape, tightened the covers and turned the tv back on; I noticed a new problem which is what you just described, the screen had several lines. So I unplugged, reopened the tv, and put the masking tape back on the last 5pins. The lines stopped but my screen still has the slightly solarised half screen. So your problem is most likely the TCON.
