Half display is black at 144hz but after switching to 60 hz its fine.

My laptop is around 2 years old now. Few weeks ago a small horizontal black line appeared at the bottom of my task bar within a week it covered almost half of my screen but after switching to 60 hz the screen is working fine. Also when playing csgo even at 60hz the same lines appear but while playing valorant it works fine. Also after connecting PC to external display the PC shows black bars but external monitor works normally. When entering the bios setup the same black lines appear though.

Can someone help me figure out the problem with my PC?

I have the exact same problem with the same machine, Acer Nitro AN515-55 and is started also a few weeks ago.

This must be a software issue, luckily. When I attached a second monitor, the refresh rate went down to 60hz on the internal display and came back on.

As soon as I unplug the external monitor, the internal screen goes black - with only a flickering bar at the top.

I've tried to reinstall drivers for the graphics card, by first uninstalling and then reinstalling - it did not help.

I didn't want to "upgrade" to windows 11, but maybe it's worth a try.

@namangururani are you on Win10 or 11?
