My iMac is an A1419 27" 2014, 4.0 GHz Core i7, 1TB Fusion Drive, 32 GB RAM, AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GPU

In the DriveDX App, it shows that the 2 drives are no longer in the best condition...

It would be logical, "break Fusion Drive", and:

- Replace the original 128Gb SSD PCIE with one with 256Gb (as MAIN DRIVE...more than 50% of the capacity will be empty), and install in it MacOS and programs such as Logic Pro X/Ableton 10/Cubase 10/Maschine 2/Komplete)

-Replace the 1Tb 3.5 "SATA HDD with a 2Tb 2,5" SATA SSD (as DATA DRIVE) and Install in it the libraries/sound banks (from Logic Pro X/Ableton 10/Cubase 10/Maschine 2/Komplete 13 Ultimate Collector's Edition), and other Documentes/Pictures/etc...?

In this configuration, is possible to choose what and where is installed the "Data"? (not like in Fusion Drive...)

Yup! That’s what I sent up for many music and video students, for the pros I often use a larger blade SSD.

We call this a dual drive config. Some folks do it via an external drive solution be it a standalone HDD or SSD, or a RAID drive set to gain performance and speed often needed in big projects!

As an example I have a 2013 MacPro which has a 2TB SSD internally and I have two external RAID drive sets for my photography.

I just need, previously break fusion drive, and after replace SSD PCIE + SSD SATA?

And after, enter in "Recovery Mode", erase the 2 new drives, and choose SSD PCIE to install MacOS?

@boxerboss - I would create a bootable USB thumb drive to prep the new drives.

The boot drive will be blade SSD, and your apps will magically install to it, (Application Folder), unless it asks then you point to the Apps folder.

OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD, will it have similar speeds to the original Apple, or will it have higher speeds? (or the limitation of the Logicboard will not allow to use the speed of the OWC Aura Pro X2?)

Apart from the OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD, do you recommend any optional that works without any issues? (using the "adapter")

OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD, is it more "plug n'play"? (than others, using "adapter")

My question is due to the huge difference in price for the OWC...

@boxerboss - So, owning an ultra fast Maserati driving on city streets is better than having a run of the mill car?

Sometimes we over focus speed, the speed is more often today the limits of the systems I/O in the and in the case of SSDs write Vs read speed.

I would either go with another Apple or OWC drive. so while these drives are a bit more, they are fully compliant to Apples custom interface.

Industry standards based drives M.2 used in conjunction of an adapter is risky!

First the I/O interface is not a full Implementation on what Apple designed in their systems. Some of the housekeeping actions won’t work correctly.

Also it’s a bear to get to the connector, so how many times will you need to replace or fiddle with the drive? Not one and done!

If you are a serious creator or someone who has deliverables to a client, loosing or creating a corruption in one’s work is not how I want to suffer or explain.
