Samsung 4k monitor backlight repair

My Samsung LU28R550UQRXXU has received damage to one of the connectors that supply power to the backlight (there are two, one on each side) Half the screen is perfect but the the other half is unlit and fades to black.

This is the connector that is working fine

The connector for the other side has snapped off, the snapped part indicated by the red arrow. What are the chances of getting this repaired? It seems criminal to throw the monitor away!

UPDATE

@oldturkey03 So I got the LED strip out, actually much easier than I thought it would be, I don't like my chances of soldering it, it looks way too delicate so I'm currently searching for a replacement

@jonm2034 that looks like it is the connector on the backlight strip. You could replace the strip or your could try apply jumpers directly to that strip. No reason to bin the monitor. This is definitely fixable.

Thanks for the reply, that would certainly make sense, is a backlight strip generic or would it be for this specific panel?

@jonm2034 it's panel specific. Best way to find it would be by the panel number. If you can remove the back cover, use the label that is glued to the back of the LCD panel for an online search.

Great I'll look that up, I've done loads of PC/Laptop repairs but my electrical knowledge is quite limited, could you expand on 'apply jumpers directly to that strip'?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers

@jonm2034 take the broken connector and solder from the points just below the connector to the rest of the strip. We would need to see both ends for this. You only have positive and negative connections on this to provide the power to the LED. Running some thin wires across the broken part to the strip will provide power to the rest of the LED's.

Great thank you, I’ll take the strip out and have a good look at it
