Some easy troubleshooting steps would be make sure the PlayStation is on and look what port it's plugged into. Make sure if your TV has multiple HDMI ports that you are on the correct source that match the PlayStation.

@truckerfred, the first thing to do is figure out which of the three components is the problem; the PS5, the HDMI cable, or the TV itself.
For the TV, try moving the HDMI cable to a different plug, and also try plugging something else into the port that was being used. If a different source works, then the TV is okay. If a different plug works, then there may be a problem with that particular HDMI port.
Check the HDMI cable by swapping it out for a different one.
Preferably using a different cable, try plugging the PS5 into a different TV.
Once you know which of those three pieces is causing the issue, then you can proceed with more troubleshooting.
