Is the OEM proximity sensor required? When replacing the LCD.
Found a aftermarket sensor for $13 and am thinking of using that instead of removing the OEM from the original LCD.

without the original one, you will lose the Face.ID function. In addition, new replacement sensors in most cases do not work due to the use of plastic dummies in the places of the sensors (this applies to most sellers of non-genuine Apple sensor parts). If your original one is broken, please replace with a used one, from the disassembly of other the broken iPad. Will find some in ebay or similar service.
