Touch not working after replacing screen (but screen works however)

Hello! I have a 38mm Apple Watch Series 1 where the screen was cracked at the corner and the touch wasn't working. I replaced the screen and it powers on and displays just fine, but the touch still isn't working. I even tried replaced the force touch sensor and it still doesn't work. Can anyone provide any insight please?

The watch is stuck on airplane mode, which I can't change because I can't touch the screen. The side dial and button work and I've tried to force restart it. I've also tried reseating the screen connection a few times and cleaning the contacts with a bit of isopropyl alcohol. Thank you for your help!

Did you replace the touch sensor? You often need to when you take the crystal/display unit off.

Do you mean the force touch sensor (with the gasket)? I did replace that yesterday but the touch still didn't work

@playaone - Yes, how did you a fix the display the sensor needs to be compressed to work. Using the wrong adhesive is one thing I’ve seen. The other is the sensor was not connected.

@danj the force touch sensor came with a double-sided adhesive gasket - I stuck one side to the body of the watch and made sure it's connected.

During my testing, I did not place the small metal latch that goes on the screen connector (steps 22-24 in this guide: Reemplazo de la pantalla Apple Watch Serie 1) and did not adhere the screen so that I can test it before closing everything up. Could this have an effect on the touch not working? The display works fine and I can use the side buttons and everything

@playaone - the clip is needed. The extra release paper could be causing you issues as it adds an extra layer.

@danj I attached the clip but still no change. I may be mistaken, but isn't the touch capability tied to the screen itself? I read on this forum that the touch force sensor isn't really needed for the touch screen to work (I guess touch force is a different function - I'm not too familiar with Apple watches myself). Do you think there is something else I can do? I'm hesitant to fully adhere the touch force sensor to the screen as that would be permanent and if I want to remove the screen again I may damage the sensor.

Thank you for your help thus far
