Phone fails to boot but turns on after battery replacement

Galaxy S9 Plus, when I replace the battery with a new one the phone strats as normal upon powering it up but once it gets to where the home screen is supposed to be its black. nothing functions except the power button if held for a few seconds where the shut down or restart icons appear towhich nothing happens when turning off or restarting. OS message pops up saying it couldnt operate. I put my old battery back on and the phone is back to normal. This is the 2nd new battery I try to do this with so I doubt its the battery. Please help!

Did you buy both of the replacement batteries from the same place? If so, it is possible you just got two bad ones. I would try another battery from a different source, if you haven't already. There could be an issue where the phone doesn't like any replacement batteries, I have seen this a few times with various phones, but that is rare. Since it powers on with the old battery still, I would say it is most likely the case that you somehow just got two bad batteries.

Tried all that. To no avail. It's like the boot is in the battery and not the phone. Even though I know that cant be the case it sure feels like it.
