Rear Camera Bezel Replacement

I have a chip in the bezel of my rear camera. Everything I see is in regards to replacing the whole camera lens. Has anyone just replaced the bezel?

@nicholas__kerns, a third possibility - the one I thought Kaiya was talking about - is the raised glass area surrounding all three of the camera lenses, marked in orange on your picture. I honestly haven't looked into it to any great degree, but I'm pretty sure the only way to replace that square is to swap out the entire midframe, which is a major job; possibly the hardest repair possible on an iPhone that doesn't involve microsoldering.

I wanted to just comment on your post, Nicholas, but there's no way to post a photo from a comment.

Yes, Jerry is correct, to replace this orange section, it would take either replacing the whole back glass or entire frame with new back. This is extremely difficult.

Welp, @Kaiya Sjoholm, looks like @nicholas__kerns and I are in agreement; unless the chip is on one of the three camera lenses, which can be replaced, fixing any other damage will require either rear glass replacement or replacing the entire midframe, both of which are major repair jobs.

Ultimately, it's probably not worth it unless you have money to burn or feel like tackling a very difficult repair.

I have attached an image to help identify your problem.

  1. Q: Are you wanting to replace just the black circle on the camera lens, notated by the red arrows?
    1. A: If you are looking to repair this you would have to replace the whole camera lens, including the the clear part in the middle as it is all one piece. This can be done by heating up the lens and carefully prying it out. Making sure to not damage the camera itself in the process.
  2. Q: Or are you looking to replace the stainless steel metal boarder around the camera lens, notated by the white arrow?
    1. A: If you are looking to replace this stainless steel border, it is VERY difficult, I would say it is basically impossible. This piece is actually welding on the the frame on the inside of the phone, and maybe even under the back glass, (not sure on this model) making it almost impossible to do this. I would not recommend attempting this repair.

I hope this helps you!
