i got this old laptop as gift and cuz am poor this is all what i will be using for a while
and my question is should i upgrad the storage to ssd first or get a better stick of ram
and if it is ram should i get one stick of 8gb so i get 10gb of ram or should i just get 2 sticks of 4gb

@abdo23 first check the maximum supported amount of Ram for your computer. The model you picked Acer Aspire 5734z-4836 is listed as maximum amount of 4GB Ram supported. If your operating system is a 32 bit system, like Windows 7 32bit that was preloaded on the system you picked, it will only recognize 4gb of memory. To upgrade to an SSD check to make sure your motherboard supports it. Best is to check the current HDD. See what type that is if you have to remove it to replace it with an SSD.
As you see its not just a matter of replacing, its a matter of finding out if and what can be supported. I would start with an SSD after that a ( maybe a news OS) and then max out the memory.

Hi
From my experience you will see a bigger difference from upgrading to a ssd
if you upgrade the ram you will only really see a a difference if you use a lot of ram or you put high speed ram on but a ssd will make a much bigger difference
But that’s not to say upgrading ram isn’t worth it
