Broke maybe a capacitor off the logic board

Hey guys, while opening the lower case of my MacBook Pro 15 2017 TouchBar, I've possibly broke this component from the right side of the board (basically below the TouchID side of the mac).

Block Image

It didn't fully detach, but it did bend and I am not sure wether the electrical connection is damaged. I managed to straighten it back in place and I added a small drop of superglue on the side to reinforce it so it doesn't bend again.

The Mac is all fine, Thunderbolts work and can't see any major problem, I am just worried it could be a critical component and may show problems in the future.

Other than cleaning those dirty fans, should I worry about this unknown component?

That is a stand off, it's to protect the pressure from the the bottom cover from pressing on the shielded area. You'll also find one between the fans as well.

I’ve seen a few metal standoffs looking like protruding needles around the board, but this is much thicker and has a rubbery cover, it’s soldered to the board very much like a cylindrical capacitor, that’s why I worry more

@Nicola Amadei - The pogo pins are mostly used in the assembly process of the board these few bumpers where added later during the Q/A process as it was observed the gap was a bit tight.

Amazing, thanks, I won’t worry then if it’s even slightly damaged

Hi

If you can give me some close up photos of the component I can see if it’s good or not

As for the component if you can find a code that looks something like this 820-xxxx-xxxx(x means random numbers)on the board I can find out what it does and if it’s important

Hopefully this helps

Thanks:-)

Hey, I couldn’t notice any ID around it, but now I’m also very wary of trying to reopen the bottom case (at least until the next fan clean)

The component itself doesn’t look broken, it’s maybe more it’s soldering to the board that could be damaged :)

@Nicola Amadei

The code is probably on the other side

If you can tell me the specs I can find it online for you:-)

Eg

Processor

Ram

Storage

Serial number
