Right Joycon rail not connecting properly when shut

So I just did a joycon shell replacement for the right Joycon, but I noticed that although it would connect just fine when connected to the Switch, but I noticed the SL and SR buttons were broken and the player lights would not show up.

I tore it down to see what happened, and I noticed that when the rail cables were straight, and not folded like they usually are, the lights came on and the buttons worked. When it was folded, it wouldn't work.

What could I have done, and is this fixable?
