Upgrading the HDD on Late 2012 27 inch iMac Thermal Sensor.

I am planning on upgrading my Late 2012 27” iMac

I wonder if I need the thermal sensor if I use an Samsung 870 EVO SSD. I have done a ton of research and people report that the Late 2013 27” iMac model does not need a thermal sensor with the latest OS. I assume it works for Late 2012 model too since they are all slim edge ones?

Also, I have the model with 1TB HDD can anyone verify for me if the T8 screw for the blade SSD is already included in the iMac even if my configuration don’t come with the blade SSD? I want to know if I need to buy the screw before opening up my iMac.

Last question, Can I upgrade the wifi to BCM94360CD without any problems?

Nope! You need the sensor. Apple didn’t roll back the fix to the 2012/early 13’ models.

As far as the blade drive the screw is not present

And lastly, swapping out the AirPort board for the 802.11ac version, sorry I haven’t tried (or had the need). Not sure if there is enough benefit given its availability & cost.

Maybe you should look at an Ethernet wired connection if you are pushing the limits of your WiFi network. Most peoples WiFi networks are the real bottleneck not the adapter in the system.
