I have a MacBook Air mid-2012 A1466 model and I was wondering if there a way that you can take the bad GPU and put in a other one like it and just resoldier the new one to replace the bad GPU wondering if that is possible?

Replacing large BGA chips requires proper tools for the task otherwise you’ll either damage the logic board or the chip. Then you have the issue on what will work and available which is very difficult to get as a new part.
Frankly, replacing the logic board is just easier! And given the risk of damage as well as access to the needed gear a lot cheaper! MacBook Air 13" Mid 2012 Logic Board Replacement

Frankly I find the iFixit tool kits a better purchase for most folks as it gives you a good collection of whats needed beyond this one job of replacing the logic board Pro Tech Toolkit
Whats the tools I need to replace the GPU from the logic board.
@Jordan Chapman - A temperature controlled reflow station they go for about 4k, not cheap for a one time use its a bit much.
I've been fixing systems for a good 40 years, even I don't have one as its not worth it for the few times I would use it. Besides replacing the logic board is just cheaper for the customer and easier for me!
The only option is finding someone who makes a living just replacing large BGA chips like CPU's & GPU's on laptop logic boards.
Another question is there a way you could turn off the BGA chip or CPU/GPU chip like you can do in MacBook Pro 2011 or later but on a MacBook Air mid-2012?
Just wondering out of curiosity? Bc I know that they are two different machines but I just wanted to know if it is possible.
