Joycon dead and not charging

Our right joycon is completely dead. It is not charging when connected to the switch console or when console is on the charging dock. If you detach it, it will not connect with the switch. We bought a charging dock for the joycons and when we put the dead one on it lights up green as if it is completely charged. Is this thing a goner or can we save it some how?
