When a 3mm audio cord is connecting the speaker to my mac mini 2012 and no music is being played there is a consistent tapping sound. tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap- tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap- tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap- tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap- tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap- tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap!!

This is interference, or excess power coming from the Mac Mini.

How do I fix it?
Try cleaning it. It resolves the issue most of the time. If not, the connector may be damaged.
