T6H, T7H, T8H, T9H, T10H - vs - TR6, TR7, TR8, TR9, TR10

Is the T6H, T7H, T8H, T9H, T10H -bit identical to the (torx security) TR6, TR7, TR8, TR9, TR10 -bit? And what is the reason for the difference in naming?

I’m deciding whether to buy a precision screwdriver kit.

T[…]H:

vs TR[…]:

The only difference is the security screws have a pin so the Torx TR bit have a hole to get around the pin, unlike the standard Torx drivers which don't.

The difference is the T6H is the torx security bit, and the T6 is the regular torx bit. I think you can use the torx security bit in the regular torx, but you definitely can’t use the standard torx driver in the security screw.

My question is if (for ex.) the bit labeled as T6H is the same as one labeled TR6.

@Professional Amateur They’re not. The H one is the security bit, the non H one is the standard bit.

It's a matter of terminology, just observe the bit itself -- does the Torx bit have a hole in it? Then it's a Torx security bit. T6H (H probably means 'hole') and TR6 (tamper-Resistant) are equivalent.

It looks like the answer is yes but no one is giving a definitive answer. Simple is a TR8 the same as a T8H?

@oldturkey03 Seems like you are wrong if you look at the post below. And you did not give a definitive answer either.

Hello,

I just bought a set containing T6H and T8H bits and I can confirm they fit the TR6 and TR8 Torx Security Screws from the Mac Mini Late 2014 Hard Drive Replacement instructions. The T#H bits have a little divot in the center that accommodates the nib in the center of the security screws.

Does the "R" in TR6 mean "Regular"? Or does the "R" designate that it's a security screw? I have no idea and I wonder if some of the confusion on this thread stems from that "R". Regardless, the T#H bits do work with security screws.
