Does the screen for GPS version of applewatch 3 work on Cellular vrsn?

Does the screen for GPS version of apple watch 3 work on a Cellular version? I bought the wrong part by accident and didn't realize until I opened the package. I tried installing but screen is not turning on at all. I'm not sure if it's incompatible or I did something wrong. Has this worked for somebody else?
