Replaced Magsafe2 connector: new one isn't charging, and no lights

Just installed a new Magsafe2 board on my MBP15” Retina mid2014, along with a new battery. (The old setup worked ok, but contacts were worn and heating the connector, and the battery was getting weak.)

The system powers up ok on the new battery (showing >90% fwiw), but when connecting the Magsafe2 the light doesn’t come on at all, and it won’t charge. (Same symptom with two different known good chargers.)

When connected, the taskbar icon shows the lightning bolt. The menu indicates “Power Source: Power Adapter”, but “Battery Not Charging”. Tried resetting the SMC, didn’t change anything.

Any ideas before I tear it down again to try swapping back the old Magsafe2 board?

(Edit - added screengrabs of coconutBattery and the taskbar battery menu)

Thanks for the reply, Dan!

Posted screengrabs of coconutBattery as well as the taskbar battery menu.

Also: repaired disk permissions and reset the NVRAM and PRAM after finding this iFixit troubleshooting article: https://help.ifixit.com/article/73-batte...

Lastly, re-opened the case and double-checked proper mounting, connection and clearance of the Magsafe2 board.

Solución Elegida

iFixit replaced the failed MagSafe2 board, and the new one is working properly.

Running the battery calibration cycle now.

Thanks for the observations, Dan!

Looks like you have a bad battery! Note the cycle count is Zero! It just can’t be that even if brand new you should have at least one cycle as you really need to calibrate the battery.

Clearly this is a new battery 5/19/20 besides replacing the MagSafe port. Where did you buy the battery?

The battery came from iFixit, natch, along with the Magsafe2 board.

And the first step in calibrating the battery is to charge it to 100%, right?

So I'm stuck here.
