Can I transfer my internal SSD to a Late-2015 MacBook Pro?

Hello!

I have a MacBook Pro (A1398 EMC 2673 (Early 2013)) with its original internal SSD. My MacBook has not been turning on for the past two days, and I want to see if the SSD still works; I thought that I would insert it into my wife’s MacBook Pro (A1398 EMC 2909 (Late 2015)), and from there, save my data onto an external hard drive.

1) Can my wife’s Late-2015 MacBook Pro be booted up with my Early-2013 internal SSD?

2) If not, is there an adapter that would work, so that I could remove my SSD, insert it into the adapter, and then boot up my wife’s MacBook from there?

3) Where would I find this adapter to purchase?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

I think they should be compatible considering they’re both A1392s. Shouldn’t hurt to give it a shot.

If you don’t want to take the risks however, you can find an adapter that has a USB end then option boot on your wife’s computer from that. I unfortunately have no idea if they exist and/or where to find them.

Best to review this great guide The Ultimate Guide to Apple’s Proprietary SSDs so you know the specs of your system and the system you want to put it into.
