Acer C732 no start/no charge/no leds

My problem is no charge, no start-up, and no LEDs. On my Acer C732. It sat for a month without charge. I have tried to charge it overnight and it was no good. The charger has been tested and works. I unplugged the battery and plugged in the charger but the CB will not run on just the charger. Tried the hard reset. Looked for connections being loose and did not find anything. So from that, I was thinking it could be a bad MB (NB.GUK11.001). Any help or advice would be awesome.

We have dozens of the C732 chromebooks at the school I work at. These devices have a week power connector to the motherboard. I've got a stack of five devices this year where the USB-c power connector has broken off inside the computer and will not hold a charge. I looked into repair and it is ugly to try. In this case, I think the motherboard replacement would make more sense. In our case, the chromebooks are all 4-5 years old and not worth trying to fix but good luck to all those with this same issue. We no longer purchase Acer chromebooks but hopefully they have solved this issue on future models.

Did you ever find an answer besides “bad board”? I have 10 of these from different school part of the same purchase batch doing the same thing. Unplugged everything possible from the board and still have same issue.

@russbeut We didn't explore a solution on this one. When you open the device up, you can see that the USB-C power connector has snapped off from the motherboard. To try and fix it, you'd have to clean it all up and then try and re-solder the tiny connectors for a new USB-C connector. When we looked at the YouTube videos about the fix, the technician had done dozens of those repairs and still said he only had a ~60% fix rate because of how squirrely it is to re-solder wiring that is so small. We opted not to try and fix. This has happened on two different models of Acer chromebooks roughly manufactured at the same time. At least the C732 I'm thinking of has two USB-C ports so we have a backup for charging. There is another model that we have a bunch of that only has a single USB-c port and no other charging options so when those snap off inside there is nothing that you can do short of a major repair.

It should normally be able to run on charger alone. Maybe dust has accumulated through time in the power plug, blocking the current from flowing. Try cleaning with a toothpick and see if it works.

I unplugged the Battery (and charger of course) hit the power button. Plugged everything back in and it booted up fine again.

I think it was stuck in a limbo empty battery/not recognizing the charger.
