Model MVWX655DW1 Doesn't fully agitate.

My washer is no longer agitating fully and is not getting my clothes clean. It will go through the rinse and spin cycles properly, though it seems to fill the tub up almost completely…which I don't remember it always doing.

Makes a louder than usual clicking noise when on the “Wash" setting, but tub barely goes back and forth.

is your washer a belt drive or an actuator & stator?

- de

These models have a belt and an actuator. The actuator has failed. Mine was doing exactly the same thing. I replaced the actuator and calibrated the washer. Its been working great for over a year now...

Washplate

If the washing machine will not agitate correctly the washplate might be damaged and stripped off the drive shaft. The agitator can be removed to check out the washplate connection point.

Hi @nyckid69

The washplate sits on the hub and should move with it.

Here's the tech sheet for the washer.

Run the diagnostics as described in the sheet and check what error codes you get. The sheet describes what to check for each given error code.

You should be able to find out about the lid lock problem as well

After many hours of research. And an actual fix of my own, I found out that it's the actuator that fails. They have an internal plastic pin that rotates the cam on the actuator to engage with the gearbox. ( shifts gears) These tend to break off. The washer will work normally throughout it's cycles but the agitation will be very weak. Remove the actuator and if the little arm is just dangling replace it.

I think that’s my problem too. Where did you purchase a new actuator?

- de

@brandiaoaks ,

Search online for "(insert MODEL number of washer) parts" to find suppliers.

The better ones have parts diagram showing the location of the part e.g. partselect.com, searspartsdirect.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com just to name a few

Order it from Amazon, Ebay or your local appliance store. Very simple to replace.

I replaced the actuator. It sounds like it’s doing more to agitate the wash, but it doesn’t move the basin the way it’s supposed to. Any suggestions?

- de

Actuator arm is not dangling and still does not engage. Also my lid lock doesn't lock either.
