Can the hinge of Beats Solo 3 be used to fix a 2nd generation model?

Both hinges from my Beats Solo 2 are broken. I wanna know if its possible to use the hinges from a Solo 3 to fix it. From images online they seem the same to me, except that the ones from the 3rd are made of metal, not plastic. Thats the reason why I wanna use it!
