Easy way to replace the rubber bezel/gasket around the display?

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to replace the rubber bezel/gasket around the display?

I have heard that you can pull the old one out but how does the new one go in and stay in and how do you get to the bottom edge of the display? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

The best way to explain it is like re-screening a window screen spline. Replacing a Window Screen 5-Steps

Unlike it you need to start at both ends pressed in and then carefully split the difference and then again and again… so each side and undone areas are all equally pressed in.

I use some water on my finger using a sponge to help lube the rubber as I press it in, a little goes a long way!

Thanks Dan! Really appreciate your thoughts! Have you tried it on the Macbook 12? I am assuming I need no glue or adhesive? Trying to figure out the easiest and safest way to dissemble the area around the bottom edge. Thinking I may need to find a display replacement video and go down that road? Any other thoughts or tips would be greatly appreciated as I have never done this before. Thanks!

@macbook12 - Let's backup here what are you doing here?

Why did you take the gasket out in the first place?

Hi, I have exactly the same problem. My screen and machine are perfect, it’s just my rubber gasket around the screen has disintegrated and crumbled to nothing. Is it possible to change the rubber without going through the entire new screen process? Thanks

Hey Dan, I have a MBP 13” 2015 model and looking to change the display bezel gasket myself. I would like to seek your advice on how you remove the old gasket, what tools do you use, and how do you slot the new gasket in?
