DC-IN socket on motherboard burnt as well as cable (photo)

Block Image

It still charges for couple minutes and then stops.

It happened while was I gaming and charging the laptop at same time, all of sudden it would stop charging and later I tried again, it worked for couple minutes and stopt. Then I opened laptop and found out this.

Any help would be appreciated. The laptop was bought in USA but I am in EU in case it has anything to do with parts.

Hello,

I have the same problem. I would like to know if you found the keyword or the name for the connector in the motherboard?

Thanks

Hi mine was burnt really bad too but I just bought a new cable cheap online and put it in and worked fine no preformace difference too. Its the only way to fix as I couldn't find a new dc jack which on the board . Also even if some pins break it will still work

Thanks for your reply. I will try :)

In the connector there are some parts of the old connector I don't know if I can clean them correctly.

Hey guys could you share the link to the cable replacement. I’ve only been able to find one for the older models that have a different charging port.

@artyor you already figured out that you will have to replace the DC-in connector and cable. You could get that from places like this The other issue you are going to run into is the connector on the motherboard. Looks pretty molten as well. Clean that mess up and see if it is already short circuiting. You can post more images of the connector etc. once it is cleaned and separated. Let’s see what the damage is. For now you definitely want to stop using this as is just in case it is short circuited or will continue to melt. Check this video from @tcrs_circuit

hi @oldturkey03 . Thank you for respond and video, it was very useful. One more question if you could help me with. You sent me DC Power Jack Cable from ebay, but I think I also need to get a DC connector that is soldered on motherboard itself, but Im not able to find it. Might be that Im using wrong key words, do you maybe know exact name of it so I can look for it?

That might be a bit more difficult to find. Let's see if we can find it. You could try to contact @tcrs_circuit on here and see if he can help you out with that as well

I’m gonna bring this thread back to life… Ok to clean the molten stuff inside you’re gonna need this https://www.mgchemicals.com/products/sol...

Someone recommended me this for mine (cable melted) and you wanna put a little bit on a brush and clean off the inside (be careful not to damage the pins). Hope this helped
