Red charge light blinking, won't turn on afterwards!

Hello! I have one problem, two systems with this problem. When I plug in my DSi and DSiXL, both exhibit a blinking red charge light. But do not charge. I left them both plugged in all night long, then when disconnecting, if I try to turn them on, I get a brief split second screen wtih a blue light, then they turn off. After this I get no lights of any kind. Neither one has been subject to water damage. I AM however using a charging cable that is plugged into a transformer, as my systems are american, but I live in Germany. Could this be causing the problem? I have another DSixl that seems to be working just fine using the same cable and outlet. No problems at all. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Re-seat the batteries. The blinking red light means it is not charging. The blinking light means that an incorrect amperage/current is present. I have fixed a number of these with that symptom by removing the battery and putting it back in. If this doesn't work try the following on the XL.

On the DSi XL since you have 2 of them. Exchange the batteries between the 2. On the system currently working try charging the battery from the other system. That will tell you if the battery is any good. On the system not currently working try turning it on with the known good battery in it. Also try charging the known good battery in it. That will tell you if there is more problems than just the battery with it. If this doesn't solve your problem try oldturkey's advice.

Be persistent. I removed the battery about 10 times before it started to charge... But it charged

rebecca, make sure that your batteries are still good. Check your fuses on the logic board. Fuse location for the DSi is shown here For the DSi XL the F1 fuse is near the power connector and F2 is on the underside of the battery PCB. Here is a good guide to help you with it. Good Luck

look at your charger when the input is (AC110 - 240 v.) you need a transformer/power current changer if it is (AC120 - 220 v.) you dont need any transformer

micahzi25, explain this a little better for me. I honestly do not follow you on this one. It is my understanding that the AC adapter is 110-240 volt in and 5.2 V out. Neither one of the ranges you are referring to would require a separate transformer, since the AC adapter is a step down transformer.
