Bluetooth JBL flip 5 issues

Hello!

I found a problem/issue with JBL Flip 5 bluetooth audio device.

Here is my scene:

1. turn on the JBL flip 5

2. connect the phone(Xiaomi Note 8 Pro) via Bluetooth to the JBL.

3. then play youtube or offline music player...

Rezults are:

the sound is making interruption on each 2 seconds. This is happening only with JBL.

After i test it with other bluetooth audio devices(china stuff)  is work perfect. This is strange... I

Any solutions?

Any help will be super appreciated!

I have this problem I bought JBL flip five ,doesn't play with huaweii p40, changed and got another one from store but still does the same even after hard reset and software upgrade from its app

Managed to make mine work, coz it wasn't playing in many phones, play with breaks in inbetween. U need to update the app and always play with app connect unlike flip 4 doesn't play in all phones without app downloaded and connected.

This speaker gave me hard time as I changed it twice in the shop coz it was playingeverytime while in the shop that was 250km from home. I ended up taking it blaming my phone. Luckily today I managed to get through.

I have the same problem. I tried to connect 3 different phones and a macbook. Sound is interrupted periodically everywhere. Hard reset not help.

Hello.

If the JBL flip 5 version or whatever is, go to the JBL service and tell them about this problem, or change it(if you are in the guarantee period).

- The JBL(bluetooth 4) of my friend is doing this in my case with the Xiaomi note 8 Pro(bluetooth v. 5), but with Huawei mate 20 lite(bluetooth v 4) is working correct(no interruptions).

I bought two JBL flip 5s and had the same issue. It only was happening when synced. So I thought maybe don't bluetooth them both bc of interference and both trying to play and sync to each other so I took one off my bluetooth and just synced it to the other and wahlah! It worked! Never ever had that problem again! Thank you Jesus for showing me the answer to the problem even jbl tries to make you pay money to fix! And if that don't work, reverse the and just bluetooth the other one alone and sync it. But praise God it worked for me! Thx. I'll be here all year! 😂

This is really weird, i have the same issue when connecting my Macbook to JBL flip5

However when i connect the iphone 8 plus and the ipad it works seemlesly. I had the speaker in service(waiting almost 10 days ) and they gave me a new speaker. I took my Mac and iphone into the store and tested before i picked up the new speaker.Typically that it was working well with both devices. As soon as i got home the problem returned and i was not able to use the mac with the JBL speaker…….. where is the logic???? makes no sense to me.

Update (08/24/2020)

Problem solved guys……. basically i managed to solve the problem by downloading the JBL connect app on iphone 8plus (version 4.8.10) and updated both the app and the speaker. Make sure that your speaker is connected to the power source :)

Hi!

Well... this seems to be bluetooth sensor captivity or some temporary connection problem.

Try in different place, outside of house, inside but not around other devices. If the problem persists, then... go back to the service!

The same solution but using JBL Connect for Android works as well. Updated the speaker firmware to the latest one, works fine, just minor micro-pauses quite rarely

Looks like for me it was a connection problem with other signals. I moved away from the router to another room and the end of my room and it kicked on working fine!

Just bought a JBL Flip 5 from Amazon because of the ratings. It has to be some kind of compatibility problem because the thing works with my Sony laptop and my iPhone 8+. I can connect on my MacBook Air; however, it only works for a matter of seconds. I bought this speaker because of the ratings to use in my office at school. Very aggravated...I'm going to Google Driver Updates and see what happens..

Yes, one option is the JBL tehnical service. Could pe a manufacturing problem.

i found a loose connection on one of flexi cable to mainboard inside,, it might because of hard basses vibration when a very loud volume appears.

open jbl mesh, open side chamber (no screw, it just plastic clamps)

Hello. My Macbook Pro late 2014 bluetooth right after it has been connected to a JBL Flip 5, goes cutting off suddenly and very frequently, like in a radio interference, notably when switching between app pages . It does not happen with my iPhone 7. Is there any means of resetting only the bluetooth software?

I have the same issue. I have tested with my iphone there is no problem. However, when I tested with my macbook and macbook air, after few mins of clear sounds, it will be interrupted.

I have a MacBook Pro 2019 and just ordered the JBL Flip5 ...I hope I do not have any connection issues , if I do did resetting the JBL software work ?

Ok add the app, then update the firmware on the speaker with the app...problem solved. Just be sure that the app notifies you that the firmware installation is completed before you try to use the speaker again!

Exact aceiasi problema o am si eu, JBL 5 cu Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Ideea e ca face la fel cu orice telefon/laptop. Ai gasit pana acum rezolvare? Multumesc!

the first charge light keeps flashing, device is not on, does not come on, whether attached to charger or not.

Lucian Moise’s (thanks Lucian!) update from August 2020 worked for me. The fix was found by installing the JBL Connect App on my iPhone then updating the software on the JBL speaker from the app. Good luck :-)

Hi!

JBL Flip 5 connected with the App (Firmware 0.5.6) and Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro

I bought JBL last week from Amazon and I have the same problem described from you all. Audio is cutting out every 2/3 secs. I noticed that if I take the Phone in another room (more than 4 meters away) the speaker works perfectly but… I just can’t accept that i have to leave my phone away that far in order to make the speaker work…

Btw, If I connect it with my laptop it works just fine….It seems that the problem is with the Xiaomi.

Any idea to solve this S..t???

The problem is with Xiaomi? Are you sure? ?

Did you try to connect your Xiaomi with another Bluetooth device, and it makes the same?

If not, in that case could be the Bluetooth versions/compatibility - and/or software updates...

In this case you can try to go back to JBL service if this is possible... and ask there for extra details.

i am also having the same problem on my redmi note 8 pro , the firmware version of the speaker is 0.5.6 and the speaker is working fine with other devices except redmi note 8 pro. please help

For me the update of JBL flip 4 to v.4.0.0 didn't solve the issue. However, having ONLY ONE device connected to JBL removes playback interruptions. So check that there are no other phones / computers connected to JBL via Bluetooth.

Sandy, I cannot even get my to power on. It appears to boot up when I plug in to charge. It is fully charged. While plugged in it will not respond to any buttons. It's like dead in the water.
