Clearing a Paper jam in Dell e525w where the back panel can't reach

I have a paper jam in my dell e525w printer. The usual approach of opening the back flipping the 2 blue levers won’t work because the paper is crimped up accordian-style at the top of the printer just before it comes out. Can’t get to it from the front nor the back.

Do I need to take the printer apart? Is there another way?

Thanks

I’m having the same problem. I took out the 6 screws in the back panel but it did not come off. I can see the wad of paper deep inside. Please advise

Having same issue and can’t get to rolled up paper from front or back and taking 6 screws out in back didn’t help. How do you take the back off to get to the rolled up paper that is stuck?

Hi @pcwhite6 ,

Did you try lifting the scanner unit to see if you can access the paper, you didn’t say?

Here’s a link to the user manual for the printer. Scroll to p.284-286 to view the procedure.

Here’s an image of the procedure from the manual

As @pcwhite6 said, the paper is not reachable from front or back. It is wrapped around the spool. It can be touched by poking tweezers between the spaces in the plastic, but not enough room to grasp the paper. I was previously able to snag it with hooked tweezers, but not this time. Any way to open something to get at the "spool"?

I've got the exact same problem. Paper is wrapped around the spool. You can see it through the slots, touch it with tweezers, but cannot grasp or move it. Would love an answer if anyone has a way to get at this.

I had the same...paper jam not as dell says but it bunches at the top...can see from the front with the lid up and see through the slots at the top in the back.

I took a small flat head screwdriver and gently pushed a bit at a time through every 3rd hole from the back..over and over and finally pushed the entire bunched paper into the top and pulled it right out. Took out a couple of small torn pieces but all out.
