Luis Gutierrez is the lid locked? Any laundry in the wash or did that just happen? Unplug your washer and leave it unplugged for a few (5) minutes. then plug it back in and let us know if that made a difference

I have a Kenmore 400 series top load model #23102 washer and the lid is locked and there is a load of clothes inside the washer. I'm not sure what cycle it was in when this occurred. I've unplugged it for hours, plugged it back in, nothing happened. I pushed the start button and the sending light and lid lock light started fleshing. The washer was purchased in 2015. Thank you

If you are having problems with your washing machine’s lid switch, see the Kenmore 110 Series Washing Machine Doesn’t Stop Spinning When Lid Is Opened problem page for possible causes and solutions.

There are a few reasons why the Lid Locked light may be flashing. Some of those are:

  • The lid lock light will flash if the lid lock does not move into the locked position.
  • The lid lock light will flash if the motor cannot be powered on.
  • The lid lock light will flash if not closed completely if something is blocking the lid.
  • The lid lock light can flash if another issue is detected in the washer.

For some troubleshooting start out with these steps:

  • Check that the lid lock and lid striker are clean and nothing blocks the switch.
  • Check that the lid lock and lid striker are aligned and secure. Make sure they are tight and have not worked themselves loose.
  • Check that the lid lock and lid striker are making contact with each other when the lid shuts.
  • Check the wiring harness/connections from the lid switch to the main control assembly for damage and that it is connected properly. Check for corroded contacts.

If all of this checks out then check the lid switch for proper working condition.

Depending on your exact model you want to also check that the Actuator motor is not faulty or has loose wiring
