My home button won’t work “click”

Hello,

Today I tried to repair my iPhone 7 screen, but unfortunately I ripped my home button cable by accident but the screen I ordered didn’t come with a Touch ID connection. But my home button didn’t want “click” after turning on the Phone. I just wanted the home button to click not the Touch ID. Do I need to order another home button?

regards,

Oh no. I’m sorry. The home button can not be replaced. It is tied to the motherboard with software. The home button has circuitry on the flex cable and in the button itself. It is locked to that specific logic board. Apple can replace it though, however,if they can tell you’ve been in the phone, they will refuse it.

if you put the original cracked screen back on,and make it look like it’s never been messed with, and make the home button flex cable look like it broke from pressure and wore down, they would replace it with a new screen.

The only other way whatsoever is to microsolder the flex back together. This requires someone with mad skill, good tools, and a very good microscope. There are people that do this.

Replacing the button with one online does nothing other than make it look normal on the outside. The button itself will not work for Touch ID or use of the home button function, period. The only phones that you could replace the button and still use home button functionality was the iPhone 6s and before, yet even then, touch wouldn’t work. With the 7 and newer, nothing would work. The Touch ID and general home button use is tied to the original. It can’t be hacked or rigged as far as anyone knows.

You can use accessibility settings, assistive Touch to bring up the virtual buttons on screen.

If you have the cracked screen,do your absolute best to put it all back together and make sure they can’t tell it’s been opened for sure. Deny if asked. They could just replace the home button with a new screen with their programmer…which again, only APPLE has..
