left tail light turns off when ever I step on the brake

HI I have a 1994 Oldsmobile 88 where the left tail light turns off when ever I step on the brake and then the tail light stays off for about 30 seconds. I have been pulled over three times because of it!

I have new bulbs for it and the fuses are fine. The right tail light stays on after the brake is stepped on.

It you can please help me I will be so grateful!!!
