sometimes battery % stuck/frozen and it won't charge only restart ...

Hello, recently it happens that my iPhone X (a renewed one) with battery health at 98% remains in a stuck/frozen level battery (not a particular percentage value… it may be at any value) and any power charger (wireless or wired genuine charger) are not able to charge it. This problem occurs during day maybe when I don’t use the phone, not every day, but I don't know precisely when. The problem is solved only after the restart (turn off/turn on). Only after the restart I can realize that the battery level was frozen and what is the real battery level. Even I can realize about this fault when I try unsuccessfully to charge the battery.

I also noticed that when the problem takes place, in the battery level graph (in Settings>Battery), the corresponding statistics of the histogram are missing (look at the picture below with the white “hole”). Already tried unsuccessfully a deep reset by DFU mode and uninstalling some apps.

iOS is 12.3.1

Please, has someone of you experienced something similar? Is in your opinion a hardware/battery problem? Even though I have some skills to change by myself the battery I would like to ask the warranty service as the device is still covered by warranty but this fault doesn’t occur so frequently and every day. If you also have some suggestions about what I can do to better investigate the issue, please let me know.

Update:

tried four days with the device completely blank, without apps and whitout personal settings (no AppleID, no FaceID, no PIN or password) and the problem never appeared.

Yesterday, after four days, I decided to insert my Apple ID and set my FaceID again and suddelnly the problem occured. So… I am suspecting FaceID.

You mention that your phone is “renewed”. Do you mean it is a used or refurbished device? If so, it’s possible the battery was replaced and the battery is either defective or of low quality and causing these issues. If a good quality replacement battery doesn’t solve the issue, then it may be a charge circuit issue on the logic board.

Hi Minho, thank you for the response. I don’t know precisely what its history is as I bought this device from one of these online shops specialized in refurbished/renewed devices. I thought about something that you already supposed and fortunately I can use the warranty service (2 years) but now I would like to go deeper this matter as I am suspecting of a SW issue. Today I also contacted the Apple support and they never experienced a similar fault… anyway they suggested me to reset the device again and use it for some days without old backups retrieved but as a new device with minimal apps installed on. So I am proceeding now in this way. Today I also realized that even though the battery charge apparently doesn’t start, actually the charging happens. Today when the problem occurred again, I didn’t restart the device and I have proceeded connecting a charger. Although any evidence of the charging appeared, the battery level was frozen and no stats were available, the device was warm and when after some hours I restarted it, I discovered to my surprise that the level moved to 100% . So this behavior makes me think about something software. Anyway I will proceed by another reset in DFU and then play with it for a few days with a minimal configuration. After this if problem will appear again I’ll call the vendor that sold me the device to request a warranty support. Frankly speaking I am not enthusiast to send them this device for a long time that could reach 60 days or receive another renewed device that can be a new bet.
