No display after LCD and Digitizer replacement

The owner put his iPad down and forgot it, then ran it over (yikes), spiderwebbing the glass across the whole device. The LCD did still work, but the removal process wasn’t kind to it and it got broken. Fast forward, I’m testing the new display unit and I get nothing but a backlight. The device still works underneath, I can unlock it and everything if I guess the right spots on the screen. I read some other threads on here and hooked the old display back in, I get lots of pretty lines, so is the LCD driver still intact?

I’ve checked and re-checked everything, but I can’t see anything horrifically out of place or disfigured.

Bad replacement unit or something fried on the logic board?

Did u try the obvious of restarting it, pressing the home button and power button, etc??? Have u tested the replacement screen on another ipad

@c9679 Yeah, I restarted it. I also disconnected the battery, unplugged and plugged the display and digitizer back in, then reconnected the battery. I do not have another iPad to test the replacement on, this is the only one the company owns.

See if u can try another screen on it though sounds like the first one is damaged and the replacement may be faulty so that needs to be ruled out... :)

@paul_r this “hooked the old display back in, I get lots of pretty lines,” makes it sound like your new LCD is part of the problem. Double check your work, the cable ends etc.,. The colored lines on the broken screen are normal for that screen, but shows that it still gets a signal.

I've double and triple checked, I just want all my ducks in a row before I try to RMA the replacement LCD. Like I said, the display is completely black, but I do have a backlight and functioning digitizer when I turn the device on. It looks like the control board on the LCD isn't completely attached, it's lifted up from the metal backing on one side. Not sure if that's the problem with it or not.
