Touch screen working, but no display

Hi! My iPod touch recently fell in some tea, and upon going to use it again the screen is black. However, the only thing i’m confused with is the touch screen still works when i connect it by quicktime player and pull up the iPods screen i can use it with the touch screen like moving around etc just the display is completely out. Would resetting the cables fix this since the touch screen works or a completely new display?

Liquid damage is really tricky. There are no two like scenarios. First of all, I would not use the iPod anymore until the board is properly cleaned with either an ultrasonic cleaner or some high percentage alcohol. Second, youll need to replace the screen. It sounds like the backlight and possibly the lcd itself is dead due to the liquid damage.

Hi! Thank you for replying, just to confirm you think a screen replacement would work fine right and a cleaning? Excuse my ignorance, I've heard of backlights on the iPad and how that requires soldering to fix is that the same case here or just the LCD is dead?

Its hard to tell if the LCD will fix your issue. Being that you have liquid damage there are lots of variables. I would first start with a cleaning and new screen. The backlight, in this case, I'm referring to is the backlight on the LCD itself and not the board.
