Home button on iPhone SE no longer working after battery replacement

I just replaced my battery due to my old one swelling, and after the replacement the home button does not register when pressed, and Touch ID is not working.

This is probably due to when I pried my display out of the chassis, I did it too hard and the home button ribbon cable flew out along with the bracket that covers it. I’v looked over the ribbon cable and haven’t seen any tearing so I’m unsure what could be the issue. I also have yet to disassemble my home button assembly.

What do you all suggest is the issue and how I can go about resolving it? I am hoping to not replace my home button because I would prefer not to lose the ability to use Touch ID.

Thank you in advance.

Update (02/27/2019)

After taking apart the home button assembly, I saw the home button flex cable was torn where it folds over (and is then secured with the contact screw). I assume this is unfix-able with basic tools, so I will be ordering a new button assembly.

Solución Elegida

You are correct, the Home Button can not be repaired, at least not from a DIY perspective. On the more recent devices (iPhone 7/8), there is a way to repair certain Home Button issues bet even then it requires micr-soldering.
