Kenmore Refrigerator Water dispenser dripping

I have a Kenmore refrigerator model # 57575791, the water dispenser drips water. I have replace the water valve on the back of the refrigerator and also have ran many gallons of water through it to get the air bubbles out of the system. There is also a filter that I added on a few years back and it has good water pressure coming from it. Any ideas what could cause this drip? Refrigerator is at least 15 years old and is a side by side.

Thanks for any ideas.

Usually when the water dispenser is dripping water, you can look up and see water dripping from the plastic water line above where you put your glass. A water inlet valve is usually the cause. Minerals in the water can pass through the filter and cause the valve not to close completely. Thus, you can have a drip or even a flood. I’ve learned to never try to clean a water valve. It not worth the risk of having it fail completely and stick completely open during the night. No one likes to wake up to a flooded kitchen. It’s best to replace it with a brand new water inlet valve.

The valve has two solenoids. One for water dispenser and one for the ice maker. It’s licated behind the refrigerator rear access panel. Unplug the unit and the water off at the wall before removing the access panel. Easy part to replace.

Can you tell where it’s leaking from?

not sure as to why you feel it has to do with the ice maker. The drip is at the tip of the water dispenser tube, where you you would fill your glass for water. Would the spring steel that makes the arm spring back loose it's tension after all these years. The reason I asked is that I jammed a cup under the arm and it didn't leak all day long.

Bryan, where do I mention the ice maker?

Did you ever resolve this? I have a similar issue - a slow periodic drip.

I replaced the solenoid/water valve but it does not seem to have resolved the issue.

I am thinking it has something to do with the dispenser mechanism/hose.

Did you ever figure this one out? Apparently Whirlpool used to make an anti-drip valve kit which used to be part of the Dispenser Water Tube Kit, which they have now dis-continued. Now the Dispenser Water Tube Kit does not come with that valve. Not sure if replacing that will help.

Update 3/6/2021: So I fixed the issue by replacing the water inlet valve at the back. It was an easy fix, thanks to this video by AppliancePartsPros: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAYsVrm2...

The part itself is easily available, I bought a cheap (great quality tho) from Amazon

I resolved my issue by bypassing the water reservoir which is just a coiled tube in the fridge to chill the water and it is not made anymore.

I ran a tube directly from the solenoid (which I unnecessarily replaced) under the fridge to the water dispenser tube in the bottom of the door.

I suspect the reservoir (aka coiled tube) had a pinhole leak Think of it like putting a straw in water and holding your thumb on the end to hold it in Once you let go it comes out

The details of my fix are here:
