This series of iMac’s use a MXM board and the 21.5” model uses the short board, You options are limited to what Apple used. The AMD Radeon R9 M290 is a raw chip which is mounted on the Retina 5K, 27” Mid 2015 iMac’s main logic board (Apple no longer uses MXM boards).
Basically, it’s not compatible and won’t offer any benefit in this system as the rest of the system would hold it back.
