Dial on headband is not working

Hello, I’ve got a problem with my VR. I was trying to tight it on my head, but after few clicks with that white rear dial, it somehow slipped, and now it doesn’t lock the headband in position. I can move with it back and forth. So, I am not sure what could happend, I just send it for warranty repair, but I’m sure they won’t do anything and just tell me that it is mechanical fault caused by me. It seems like there is no info on the internet about this thing, and I could’t find any helpful video about disassembly of that mechanism. Do you have more informations to the step 15-17 Teardown PSVR.?

If it comes back untouched and broken I think that I could try something to repair it myself.

PS. English is not my first language.

Thank you for your answer

Best regards

Petr

The headband works like regular gears so if it is not working it means the teeth of the band fell off the gear or the teeth broke off.

With the size of the teeth it is not likely that is broken, so opening up the back should give you insight on what is going on and how to realign it.

Hello Jonathan, they had exhanged my headset under warranty. So luckily I hadn't to do anything. So bring it back to the store, and try to get your money back or demand exchange for a new piece. And don't forget to bring all vouchers and papers with it. I don't know where are you from, but in Czech Republic we have a 14 days return policy, so if it is the same in your country, just tell them that its not working properly. Unless you know that you broke it yourself, then its up to you if you will lie to them. Try this first before you tear it down :)

Thank you for your answer. :-)

i've contacted my dealer today and he is ok to exchange it by a new one. I'm from France.

I was afraid by the warranty policy of Sony which easily telling you "hey, this is your fault !" but i think it's not mine: the system has broke up suddenly after few click. Strange....

These two gears should connect together but are worn in the top. When you press the release button they go apart, but if you press only lightly, they will connect better. The problem is That you cannot press it all the time while you tighten or play. I solwed it by placing 1mm height metal ring on top of the gear on the right. ( you should make the ring same shape to make the release to work)
