Preguntas 708 Ver todo

What are ALL of the screw types that the Nintendo Switch uses?

Does there exist a full list of the screw types which the Switch uses? There are at least six different types and seemingly nobody outside of Nintendo has as yet created a list with exact specs of the required screws and what to order (or where). It’s possible to buy multi-packs of just enough screws for one Switch but that seems very wasteful (expensive too) if you don’t need all of the screws, plus I’d just love to know the types used.

Ideas please? :)

For screw types, you can start out by checking out our teardown here. We are usually pretty thorough in listing what types of screws we encountered. As for the actual quantity and length, you may have to wait for a repair manual to manifest.

Thanks, unfortunately the screw types aren’t listed aren’t listed in your teardown.

This surprises me, firstly because various online sellers do in fact sell full sets of them (so the types are known by some people), secondly because the Switch has been out for 20 months, and thirdly because you guys don’t have a list of the types. This is puzzling. :-)

Hmm...maybe I'm confused with what you mean by screw types. From the tools listed, I think the only screws that were encountered are Phillips #00s and Tri-point Y00s.

Screws types meaning the exact specs of the screws - they must have a part number. There's at least six different types of varying lengths, sizes of heads, some crosspoint, some triwing, some black, some silver, various widths, etc. These all must have identification numbers due to people selling them on Ebay, Aliexpress, etc.

Here’s the full set for $6.59, it also shows you the type and count of each screw with pictures of all of them. It’s a bean counters dream:

Thanks but that Ebay listing doesn't appear to show the type, only the color of the screws, the type of head (round, flat, etc), location in the Switch, etc. It also doesn't have the screws that are present and can be seen when the plastic rear panel is removed, in other words the screws holding in the metal shield (silver) or the three separate black screws partly holding in the PCB. It does have screws (and springs) for the Joycons but I'm not after those. :-)

There must be part numbers for these screws, if not how were they initially determined and obtained by sellers on Ebay, Aliexpress, and so on?

I'm done here.

Did you ever figure out this answer? I would also like to know the screw size for at least the Y's so I can buy a bunch of Phillips to replace any thing I'm working on.
