Replacement batteries will not charge, original still does..

Hello!

I recently replaced my iphone SE battery (twice) and with both batteries had the problem that the phone will power on, but not charge past 3% on the first and 11% with the second and the phone repeatedly resets while plugged in.

I’ve since put the original battery back in and charges as it should, I’ve done battery replacements many times and never had this happen before, I just don’t understand why my phone seems to be rejecting these new batteries…

I’ve checked the connector on the replacement and it is insulated against the plate covering and the battery looks to be in perfect condition.

Any suggestions or advice is very welcome!

Thanks,

Kjell

That is very odd, where do you get your batteries from? Also have you tested your batteries with a multimeter?

One was a cheapo from ebay, the other one was from a guy in town here who claims it's an original apple battery, and it does have all the markings to indicate that it is.

Multimeter says 3.77V which seems pretty good to me!

I hate to tell you to get another battery, but since your old one can still charge and the new ones can't, I think it's just the quality of the batteries you've received. Have you tried just taking a hair dryer to the battery to warm it up? Just a small amount of heat can excite the lithium ions, but don't add too much heat. Make it barely warm to the touch. If that doesn't work I would buy a battery from ifixit or the place I use which is here https://www.fixez.com/store/iphone/iphon.... They are cheap, and I have never had a single issue with their batteries. I know this may not be the answer you're looking for, but it's worth a shot to get a battery from a trusted place.

And now that I think of it, this is the exact issue why I switched over to fixez. I used to use wholesale gadget parts and there was a time where I had 8 of the 10 batteries I ordered from wholesale gadget parts fail. Then I switched over to fixez and haven’t had an issue since.

%#*@, another battery, I'll try to take this one back then and get a replacement, the guy was very nice so I expect it should be an issue.. I tried the heating it up strategy and it doesn't seem to have helped unfortunately.

Just for peace of mind I've gotta ask; in the past I've just switched out the battery and restarted the phone, I don't need to do some sort of "initializing" or something do I?

No once you replace a battery, you should just do a soft reset, and all should be ok.
