How can I fix my screen wobble?

My 15” MacBook Pro Retina late model 2016 screen wobbles quite a bit. How do I repair this with minimal teardown? Any videos?

I have the same issue and I checked these screws… they are tight- I believe there must be some other screws under the black hinge cover- like in older models (e.g. my old MBP 2010). But I do not know how to remove this and if there are any at all? Because: the screen sits firm- it is only not staying in that angle - it moves loosely about 3cm back an forth… Thank you so much for your help. Leander from Berlin

Hopefully the hinge screws are loose otherwise you’ll need a new display. Carefully pop off the bottom cover, then remover two plastic covers over the hinges:

Then you’ll need to check these screws:

@leandermode - the hinge design in this series is very different from the older models. This series uses a press-fit pin into the upper lid case. The pin is keyed so its not free spinning and the clutch spring bites into it

The only correction is replacing the full display lid assembly.

Thank you Dan for your answer… but… what a pity that there is no other way to fix this little issue (and as I believe quite common) … but by a complete replace of the display lid assembly. hmmm apple, apple….

@leandermode - Apple has reduced the serviceable parts down to a small handful ;-{

@danj do you know how?

Any idea if it's possible to remove the press-fit pin mechanism and transfer it to another assembly? My replacement part came without a hinge.

@sardar.lopez - What???

Clearly you got the wrong part as every one I've ordered have had the hinge pin and the hinge pieces as show in the pictures I've posted.

Here's the correct part: MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2016-2017) Display Assembly At you can see in the iFixit parts picture the hinge is present on theirs.

I would love to know where you found this part and some pics as well.

I've got mine used from Amazon. It's the correct screen minus the hinge on the left. It's less than half the price so it would be worth the effort if it could put my paper weight of a MacBook Pro to use. Thanks for the reply.

Cheers
