Replacement digitizer not responding

I have a 1st gen Kindle Fire that had a bad battery. I replaced the battery but accidentally nicked the digitizer cable. I bought a replacement digitizer/screen set but it does not appear to be working. Now, I accidentally pulled the flip up bracket off while trying to get the old digitizer out so my question is: does that little while plastic clip help complete a circuit of some sort or is it really just to hold the end of the cable down so I can troubleshoot if it’s the clip or the digitizer that’s the problem.

Thank you. I thought the clip was just a retainer as well but wanted to be sure since it is a variable. I'll check for how far it is inserted. The vendor issued me a refund for the digitizer last night so at least it isn't wasted money if I have to get another.

The plastic clip is just a retainer, it applies some pressure but I have had cable connector still work despite that tab falling off. I have also pushed a small folded piece of paper on top of the cable and then place it into the connector.

It may be that you haven’t pushed the cable in far enough-there’s usually a line that the cable is inserted up to (or very near to) and that’s why the digitiser isn’t working. I have also inadvertantly bent the cable trying to fit them. If you try the above tricks and it still doesn’t work, check you have the right part for the device. If still no luck then you may need a new digitiser.
