Phone battery stuck at different percenatges.

One day I noticed my battery percentage was at 48%, and had been there despite being charged throughout the night. I restart, 48%. Plugged in, and it quickly discharged to 0% and shut off within 6 minutes. Well, I came to iFixIt and re-calibrated the battery (by charging, letting it die and charging again) but I noticed that while charging the battery remained at 0%. I took it off, and then it died instantly, after the restart the phone had shot back up to 99%. It continues down normally, after it dies it then reports 0% as it should. Well, after a full recharge and restart the battery reported 27%, then after several hours began to tick down normally. The same happens every time, I’ll let it die, recharge, and it’ll be stuck at a random percentage. I’ve been dealing with this for a month, and tried everything from cache & factory resets to multiple battery recalibrations. Nothing has worked and I’m at the end of my rope. Please help me, thank you.

Hi Osaze Hinds

I had a feeling that your battery is having issues.

One simple test is to swap with another known working battery and observe the results.

Commonly seen, for older / used and charged frequently phones…

e.g. samsung note 1, 2, 3 , etc

apple…

suddenly shutdown or reboot…

when startup say low battery…. as initially is maybe 70%

when charging … from low battery, e.g. 20% sometimes after a while it raised to 70% in a short span…

@salmonjapan That's just it, I've only have the phone since June. There's no way the battery is already worn out, I'm a power user but the phone has been well within it's limits. Battery replacement is out of the question for me not only due to this, but also because I lack the expertise to perform it and don't want to pony up the forklift of cash needed for Verizon to do it. Also, this phone was released in June of 2017. At most, it's a bit over a year old. But I purchased it brand new and received the phone on June 7th of 2018. Due to this, I'm confident it's a software issue, not a battery one.
