I’m planning on getting an iPad soon and since they have beautiful screens I was wondering if there is an app or something I could use to make it act as a primary monitor. I’ve seen apps like duet display but I’m not interested in paying a monthly fee just to use it. Preferably something that transmits the information via a cable.

Sure, you can use this HDMI to Lightning or VGA to Lightning adapter depending on the ports your external monitor has and/or the cables you will be using.

The common way to do it would be to buy software. I am not sure if you could use a micro c to HDMI adaptor but that is what I would try.
