The screen is some blurry white.

I would like to know if someone can guess what happens with the screen. At the beginning I saw it at the left-down corner and now it happens at side and a little bit at the upper-left corner. Thanks!

Thanks for all your answers. I just remember that before it got blurry white, I forgot it in the car under the sun and when opening, I saw some kind of glue coming out from the screen. is it possible that glue touched the screen? And I think that is cooling glue for the laptop.

Two possibilities.

  1. The screen is damaged. You will need a new screen if so. (Unlikely)
  2. The display cable is damaged. You will need to swap out the display cable if so. (More likely)

Maybe some people can comment repair guides down in the comments section of this answer so I can link them into this answer. ;-)

This model shipped with a defective LG monitor. You can find story after story on Reddit.

The screen starts to 'gray out' usually in one corner of the screen. Then a sticky goop starts coming out of the monitor. The computer is still usable during this period, but you lose more and more screen area until the device becomes unusable.

I was very excited to buy this Pixel. I like to buy high-end and then keep a device for a long time. Unfortunately, Google has a poor track record with its hardware. And the fact that they EOL chromebook devices prematurely is the last straw. I used to suggest chromebooks to non power users. But I don't anymore because of the EOL issue.

Since my Pixel is near death anyway, I'm going to attempt my first such repair on this thing and try installing Ubuntu. We'll see.

My pi\el (the "eks" key has stopped working too) has just developed this screen problem. The sticky goop was the 1st problem, which keeps showing up in one corner. The gray out was ne\t. Now it intermittently gets a black, somewhat uneven border, with white bleaching out in the center. E\ternal monitor works luckily. Happy to find this posting e\plaining the problem. Let us know how your repair comes out. I may try it as well, as I really like this model. Another post here suggests CloudyReady to solve the EOL for the 2013 Pi\el. Might try that too.

The Screen is Defective and you will need to order a new one or try to take it to the nearest Service Center they will fix it.

I have a similar problem, sadly. I thought it was caused by water went inside. It looks more like screen quality problem.
