Hey guys, I recently opened up my laptop and replaced my HDD with an SSD. After I put everything back together, the laptop won’t even attempt to boot. I opened it back up to ensure that everything was connected to the motherboard properly and it all checks out. I’m not sure what happened and need some help saving my laptop. Thanks

Try a power refresh and check if this resolves the problem.
Here’s how to do this:
Remove the battery from the laptop
Press and hold the laptop’s Power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power from the laptop.
Connect and switch on the charger to the laptop and try to start the laptop. (leave the battery out at this stage)
If the laptop doesn’t start, switch off the charger and remove the SSD and try again. At least to see if it starts.
If it still doesn’t start, switch off and disconnect the charger, and then remove the RTC battery (CMOS battery) from the laptop and press and hold the laptop’s power button for 30 seconds. Here’s a link to the service manual taken from this webpage. Scroll to p.45 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove/replace the RTC battery. Take note of the orientation of the battery before you remove it, so that you re-insert it the correct way.
Then re-insert the RTC battery, reconnect and switch on the charger and try to start the laptop.
If the laptop starts, assuming that you haven’t got an OS loaded into the SSD, once it gets to the BIOS screen about no boot device found (or similar message) shutdown the laptop in the normal manner.
Switch off the charger and reinsert the battery into the laptop.
Switch on the charger and then try to turn on the laptop and check what happens.

If it still isn't working please "unaccept" this answer as it didn't help
When connecting the charger to the laptop, are you getting any indications that the power is connected?
If not check the power connector cable to the motherboard in the laptop is securely connected.
If you are getting power to the laptop, check the power button board cable connection to the motherboard is OK, or disconnect the button board cable from the motherboard and use an Ohmmeter to check that the Power button works OK by testing for continuity through the button from the cable end.

Ensure that whenever you work inside a laptop that ALL power, charger and battery is disconnected, as the motherboard is still "live" with the battery connected even though the laptop is"off" and you don't want to accidentally create any problems by touching things you shouldn't with the power there
I didn't mean to accept the answer, my mistake. And thank you for your help.
When I plug the charger into the laptop, yes, the LED indicator lights up as if the battery is charging. So it's not the battery that is having problems. I have double checked that the power connector cable is connected properly, and it is.
I haven't tried the ohmmeter, but I guess that is the next step.
The very first time that I took the laptop apart I did not remove the battery until I was almost finished removing all the parts. I realized that was a mistake and have made sure to drain remove the battery and drain the power before I do anything else. Is there a chance that I fried my motherboard?

If you used metal tools for whatever reason when the laptop was open and accidentally slipped on the motherboard then the chance is there that something may have been electrically damaged.
You really only have to disconnect the power and battery from the motherboard when you go to work on it. You don't have to drain the battery.
One last thing to try:
Make it a barebones computer by removing/disconnecting battery, HDD and ODD (optical drive)
Then re seat the RAM (i.e. take it out and put it back in)
Connect the charger to the laptop and try to start it.

best thing to try is download you old OS + boot loader info on a flash drive or and a portable hard drive connect them to you laptop and attempt to access your boot-loader menu on your laptop if the problem still occurs consult the manufacture WARNING YOU HAVE VOID YOU WARRANTY IF ONE WAS IN PLACE SO IF YOU ATTEMPT TO ASK THEM FOR REPAIR OPTIONS YOU MAY BE DENIED OR YOU MAY HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL FULL REPAIRS

Hi Austin,if your computer won’t boot up at all,follow these steps,first try checking if the SSD has a operating system like windows 10 home,update your bios,and last replace the cmos battery,if it doesn’t have a OS then here is the download link to windows ten,download from another pc,use the media creation tool link- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software... Sincerely windowsfan7,and remove battery keep charger and hold power button,before doing,remove battery and ac adapter and hold power to drain any leftover electric fluids. Try disconnecting any drives that makes your computer crash or unbootable,and last,try reverting back to the HDD,or replace the battery

Have you tried reinstalling Windows 10 on the SSD?
Or you may try removing all external devices to see whether it will work.
Otherwise, you can boot in safe mode to check if there are any problematic apps or outdated drivers that lead to this case.

Austin Taylor, what happens when you reinstall your old HDD?

I've tried reinstalling the old HDD and booting, I've also tried booting with no Hard Dive at all, and each time, nothing happens. I'm thinking that maybe I accidentally damaged the cable that connects the power button to the motherboard? I'm not too sure what else I might have done that would cause a problem like this.
