Why is my usb type c getting power but not data?

There isn't any physical damage from what I can see but any form of connection that needs data like the aux cord or the type a to c cable doesn't work. I have gotten the phone wet but I was under the assumption that with a ip68 rating that would apply to the connectors on the type c port as well. again i can't see any physical damage
