We bought a 55" vizio m55-c2 led tv a couple of years ago. Recently, sideways black t-shaped dark lines will randomly appear & stay. We can turn off the tv for a few seconds or minutes & the picture is fine. Randomly the bars come back - various timing. Any ideas what this could be & can it be fixed?

The random appearance and "reset" fix suggest that this is heat related and is probably centered on the Tcon board. Please try to upload a picture of the problem and note when this happens. You may see a pattern of when this happens.

I will stand somewhat corrected. From the picture, I would be looking at the LED strips behind the panel. I believe that there may be a few LEDs that are starting to fail. These strips are usually connected in series which means that if one fails, the strip will fail. Based upon the pattern of darkness, I believe that a few strips are cutting out. Since the set recovers, it may be as simple as a poor connection somewhere on the strips themselves or at the connector to the strips.
