Grass is normal, why do the blades slow down after I begin cutting?

Grass is normal height as always, when I begin to cut the blades slow down at times almost stopping while engaged. Tention is on belt. I even turned belt over. I have not changed the belt since having the mower, 6/2016.

I replaced the filter and it continues to do the same.

You might have contaminated gas in the mower. Drain out the old gas. Change the fuel filter. Get new gas, non-ethanol if possible. Mix in some Seafoam gas treatment with the new gas. Fill your tank with the gas/Seafoam mixture. Now crank the engine. The Seafoam will clean out your fuel system. If the problem was with the fuel system, then the Seafoam will solve your problem.

I have a Craftsman 42 inch riding mower. When I start cutting the grass, the blades slow down. The belt has tension when I start it up. I've adjusted the bar in both directions but it still does it.

In the summer months, it can be challenging to keep the grass green. However, there are several methods you can use to accomplish this task. The best way is to use a hosepipe, which will allow you to control the watering directly from the plants. Another method is to use a handheld sprayer, preventing the watering on uneven ground without damaging the plants. In either case, both ways will eliminate weeds without much damage to the grass.
